Actually, the same thing just happened to me in Minecraft, and later while listening to some music while surfing the web. It would appear to not be BG:R but my computer that's buggered. :(

I'm currently running every diagnostic I can think of, I'll get back to you with results.

I wonder if it is something about how Windows 7 handles games that were designed on earlier OSs. Maybe some sort of weird ghost registry problem? Just a guess there. But how in the world could "Baldur's Gate: Reloaded" have appeared in all four campaign slots on my computer when I had removed it entirely from the computer and reinstalled?

@manero, Kivan's stats are STR 15 DEX 19 CON 10 INT 10 WIS 13 CHA 8. He comes as an archery specialist (Ranger combat style archer) with Point Blank Shot, Weapon Focus Longbow, and Rapid Shot. His favored enemies are "reptilian humanoids" ( I guess kobolds), and undead. I don't know why ogre isn't one of them. I also don't know why the devs decided not to spawn him until after the Nashkel Mines are done.

What?? He doesn't have ogre as his favoured enemy?! That's just.... I mean I didn't really look very closely at him beyond his stats, but that's contradictory to his character. I'm getting the feeling that a number of decisions and changes were made more for making game-play easier than keeping in line with the lore/story/characters. I wish they'd left it up to the players to decide if they wanted to change things like that...

Sorry, getting irked by small changes again. I'll certainly have to delevel him and repick his favoured enemies if I can though (might not be able to if he picks at first level... but the second one perhaps).

@Malicron - There's a fix for stuttering graphics - it basically forces it to use 64 bit calculations. I found it the other day.

As for the graphics problem, it's weird. It shifted my dual cards to disable SLI, and, when I restored SLI, it fixed the game. Can't download the mod a second time (or couldn't when I tried). I don't know if Neverwinter Nexus puts a limit on this or something.

@Shades, I just checked, and there is no "favored enemy: ogre" in NWN2. They have "monstrous humanoids", "goblinoids", and "giants", as well as "reptilian humanoids".

Maybe nobody knows for sure which one of those things includes "ogre"? It could be any of them.

Maybe they made Tazok into a "reptilian humanoid" because they happened to know a reptilian creature type that would fit?

(I haven't played the game enough yet to have seen how they implemented Tazok.)

With what little I had played with Kivan before I restarted, he seemed like he was going to kick butt using arrows of acid.

I'm fairly certain ogres are "giants" in neverwinter nights 2.

Any chance for a link? Though I have to admit, at the moment I think it's a problem with my processor, and NWN2 just happens to be the first CPU intensive program I've run in a while.

    1. How gauntlets of ogre power and gloves of dexternity works in BGR?
    2. How tomes of strenght, dexternity, constitusion etc works in BGR?

@manero, I think they just give +2 to whatever stat. They're not nearly as game-changing in BGR.

Two more promotional photos: I just defeated Bassilus for the first time. Omg, omg, omg, epic awesome sauce! Party is Charname cleric/druid, Jaheira, Khalid, Ajantis, Imoen, Xan, Winnie the Pooh (Jaheira's bear companion), and Kitty Cat (my panther animal companion). I have a shot of Jaheira killing Bassilus, and one of the exhausted but jubilant party moving into Bassilus' "stonehenge" to collect the spoils of victory.

Could you tell us Ajantis stats?
  • BelgarathMTHBelgarathMTH Member Posts: 5,653
Ajantis' stats are STR15 DEX10 CON14 INT10 WIS14 CHA15. He comes as a paladin with Exotic Weapons and Silver Palm ( a totally wasted second feat, but I suppose meant to roleplay being a Silverstar). You can go to him at the beginning of the game, and he will already be second level, like Jaheira.

I kind of like him better than Minsc for a tank, because of that leg up on level, plus the fact that Minsc is a barbarian who cannot wear heavy armor, and, the whole Minsc and Dynaheir quest seems to be bugged and causing problems. Actually, even in BG:EE, I don't like having to fret over Minsc's timer for going straight to Dynaheir.

In Baldur's Gate City currently, endless spawns of Flaming Fist attack groups - Sure my PC is pure evil to the core & can dispatch a few groups easily but I've had seven seperate hoards of them attack on one map & I just got there!

You'd think they'd learn after the first ten units got butchered that they're yeilding diminishing return/start running out of spare men for street battles & back off.

@manero they're both +2 as @belgarathmth mentioned. Tomes work the same as always.

That, or they know that some sort of unholy monster has entered the city, and are trying to stop it at all costs.

In other news, I think my problem might be the drivers I downloaded to get BG:EE to work. I'm going to try rolling back the drivers ans see if there's any improvement.

@Belgarathmth - Well, you've been playing BGR longer than I have, so therefore, you kind of are an expert to me. XD

@Isair, I never play evil, so I wouldn't know. Isn't there a similar problem in the original and in BG:EE? Evil gets punished by getting swarmed with an army of guardspeople in every populated area in the world. I find that quite realistic.

    "Crime doesn't pay."

"Must I be interrupted at every turn? I haven't got time for this! You will suffer! You will all suffer!"

Yes, Irenicus, you really must be interrupted at every turn, mass suffering not withstanding. That's what you get for being an evil SoB, dude.

@Belgarathmth - In BG:EE they got bounty hunters that come after you if you're too evil. Sometimes a whole group of guards shows up too.
  • IsairIsair Member Posts: 217
@SapphireIce101 They show up in BGR too.

@belgarathmth & @Malicron the attacks themselves aren't my issue, it's the frequency. Whilst I agree that they'd want to stop me I fail to see how this many encounters are justified, it's excessive. With BGEE it's (as I recall) one encounter per map not infinite amounts constantly respawning, they are on the verge of war afterall - You'd think they'd want to conserve troop numbers!

Unlike being evil in classic BG this is coming close to making the game unplayable, at the moment I can't move without the swarm decending.

Next playthrough is going to have to be good or neutral. Which will likely be soon.

@Isair, so, in BGR, crime definitely doesn't pay!
  • IsairIsair Member Posts: 217
    @belgarathmth - Hah Exactly!

Fellow evil-doers consider yourselves forewarned - The Flaming Fist have a cloner.

@Isair - Oh noes. ...Just think of all the free XP if you kill them all?
  • IsairIsair Member Posts: 217

@SapphireIce101 Well... I think they're worth about 11 XP each (my PC is level 9). So not much of a pay off, otherwise I'd agree with you. I also can't move more than a few feet without them spawning so there's not much room for actual quests what-wtih my war of attrition with the FF.

I'm also not sure if there is an all, I have a feeling they'll just keep showing up endlessly.

    *sigh*

Ha, sounds like that "Curse of the Beggar" thread a few weeks ago.
  • ShadesShades Member Posts: 7
That kinda links into something I was wondering: Does BGR actually track your reputation at all, or does it just go by your alignment? Because I know people have mentioned Xzar and Monty leaving because their alignment was good, and Xan apparently won't join an evil party. I also noticed one conversation that gave me a few alignment points too.
  • SapphireIce101SapphireIce101 Member Posts: 866
@Isair - Well, at least your mad sister Madae isn't out there. (I apologize for the IWD2 reference.) Damn FF with their constant spawning, and lack of XP. I feel like it isn't worth playing evil until they fix that. D:
  • BelgarathMTHBelgarathMTH Member Posts: 5,653
There is no reputation system in BGR. Whatever tracking of alignment based consequences there is, is going on behind the scenes in the program, and some of it unfortunately seems to be bugged at the moment. (I don't know if the infinite Flaming Fist spawns are a bug or a feature.)
  • IsairIsair Member Posts: 217
@SapphireIce101 Don't apologize! If she turned up in Baldur's Gate it'd draw some heat away from my PC. I imagine a Cambion worshiper of Xvim would be more pressing that my Human Warlock who's inadvertently saving the whole region.

Playing evil was actually quite enjoyable up until this point, Kagain (Fighter 4/Sorcerer 1/Dragon Disciple 4) & Shar-Teel (Fighter 4/Rogue 2/Assassin 2/Dread Commando 1) are both tearing everything to bits (though due to Shar-Teel bugging & not attacking I have to constantly control her during battles). I think tonight I'll start again this time with a LN Wild Elf Monk & aim for Monk 4/Sorcerer 1/DD 4/Fist of the Forest 1.

@belgarathmth If it's a feature the BGR team are secretly a Paladin order.
  • SapphireIce101SapphireIce101 Member Posts: 866
@Isair - If they're secretly an order of Paladins...I'm pretty sure they're a bunch of Paladins of Illmater. ..I really need to stop with IWD2 references. :P

And, yes, a Cambion worshiper of Xvim would draw a lot of heat off your PC.

Ah, I suspected as much, it's a shame that they couldn't make it something that we could see and keep track of. On the other hand if it is just looking at your alignment I wonder if you'd still end up with the FF after you using an evil party but making all good choices.

I'm also wondering where NPCs go when you swap them out as they don't say a thing when they're kicked out, they just wander off. I'll have to snoop around to see if I can find them at any inns.

Oh! And it appears that skills influence the dialogue choices you get, I've had one extra pop up with Nimbul when he must have spoken to one of my party members the first time, and the second time spoke to my PC. I guess it's to replace the stat requirements of some options? Though I don't recall what conversations did have stat requirements in the original BG. I'm tempted to just bump up all the skills that are probably linked to extra conversation options at the start so I don't miss anything.
