How to wait for SoD and be happy within?

I come across some negative feelings toward the release date of SoD, much of anxiety and concerns about the game.
If you feel this way than this is a thread for you. It's a therapeutical thread giving a constructive way how to meet and greet SoD with patience and without anger.
  1. do something constructive
  2. learn some new field
  3. try to make a mod for BG:EE, BG2:EE, IWD:EE or join a team of modders
  4. make a fanart
  5. discover some new trick in the game and share it
  6. joyfully tease other forumites with witty and positive comments
  7. read a book you like
  8. spice your hobby
Feel free to add your suggestions.

    11. Play BG:EE with a class and race you've never used before (I'm playing Cecilia Swiftfoot, a halfling bountyhunter).

    13. remind yourself that you strictly cannot begin any new game transition of bg1->bg2 for continuity reasons until SoD is out.

    ... damn it.

If someone does this I expect productivity in the beamdog office will go way down, because they will all be busy shooting up each other

This enforced abstinence from doing 'full' playthroughs has given me the opportunity to try new (to me) things in BG1 like dual-classing and solo runs.
Along with some abject failures my best experiment so far is a solo run with a dual class assassin>mage who is currently in chapter 7.

    21. Sing parody songs inside the bathtub

I'm lying here in the bathtub
It's just another rainy Sunday afternoon
    I'm wasting my time
    I got nothing to do
    I'm hanging around
    I'm waiting for SoD
But nothing ever happens... and I wonder

I'm browsing around on my phone
    I'm browsing too fast
    I'm browsing too slow
I'd like to change my point of view
    I feel so bored
    I'm waiting for SoD
But nothing ever happens... and I wonder

    I wonder how...
    I wonder why...
Yesterday someone told me 'bout the nail-broken Skie
And all that I can see is just a twitter feed
I'm turning my head up and down
I'm turning, turning, turning, turning, turning around
And all that I can see is just another twitter feed...

    Sing, dah...
da da da dam dee dab dah
da da dam dee dab dah
    dab deedly dah...

    22. Take some time to muse about the days of your youth, when Baldur's Gate didn't exist yet, there was no 2nd Edition AD&D yet, hardcore music was a variety of punk, not some techno-terror house music and SOD stood for "Stormtroopers of Death".

    27. Stop thinking about it.

Psychology 101: If to want to stop thinking about it, you will think about it. I was crashing psychology seminar. The instructor said that we don't think of the apple. We were thinking about it.

    28. Prepare good questions for the livestream.

It is normal you would think about the apple since you are listening to him.

You could say, "well that's the point"

I would say yes, but that does not prove you can not stop thinking about it. This rule only assume you expect instant result. Which is of course not possible.

Beware of people working in this field, most of them are convinced of their knowledge and will take really bad shortcuts.

But let's be helpful, how could you stop thinking about something? Thinking is a mechanical process, and it works with triggers. In your example you could say that "listening to the instructor" was the trigger.

So in the case of SoD :) We could try to remove one of those triggers and see what happens. Example, stop browsing this forum -_- And keep going until it works.

To summarize, if you want to "stop thinking about it", you can do it. And it doesn't take a "psychology 101" to negate it.

    29. Read Terry Pratchett novels, all of them.

    30. Read a Jack Vance novel, wonder why you've never gotten around to it before.

    31. Read the latest Hell's Gate novel. (Nine years I waited for this sequel!)

Play some 5E, or Pathfinder. If you dont have a group, still play 5E by world building creating your own monsters. Also, you could SKATE or DIE!

Did anybody say skate? Apparently you're never to old to be possesed to skate.
