Studded Leather doesn't give a penalty to thieving skills in BGEE (unless you've modded the game), only the +2 "Rugged Leathers", Hide Armour and Elven Chain does for thieves. (View Post)

Though you can't backstab from Sanctuary and it doesn't last as long as Invisibility. Am not saying it's not useful (espc. as it's a level 1 spell), but it has some limitations (View Post)
