  • Dev6 and voidofopinion earned the 500 Agrees badge.
You received 500 Agrees. People really agree with what you've posted - either you're as well liked as Elminster or as intimidating as Sarevok!

I never feel so stupid as I do when I read a joke and don't understand it.

But you did understand the German guy talking dirty about the Italian guy...

It's no fun if I explain it :(

In the name of education and science, I'll explain it, @Skatan :
Double entendre = A statement with a double meaning, often sexual
"Give it to her" = A way of saying that you've given somebody your cock. Ie, slang for sex.

Somebody drew it on for me, it would be an insult to their sacrificed time to change it!

(I guess I'm also a "leave the christmas decorations up until september" kind of guy it appears...)

Ah ok, get it. I don't think I've heard the meaning of "double entendre" before. Thanks for the explanation.

Sorry if I ruined your fun Dev6.

No probs here Skatan, I just thought you wouldn't find it amusing after it being explained.

Actually I do. Learning jokes and reading between the lines is one of the last things I learn with a new language. I ask because I wanted to understand. and now I do. Same with "inuendo", had to google that word when I first encountered it, but now I use it fairly frequently myself. I'm adding the double entendre to my vocabulary as well from now.
  • Is Tides of Numenera worth playing for someone who absolutely despised PS:T?
I recently got it in a bundle, and I'd been meaning to play it for quite some time but I'd like your opinion guys.
PS:T had a somewhat interesting story, but the game was awfully boring. How does Numenera compare?

I'm not one of the preachers for PST, but I did enjoy ToN quite alot. Never finished the game though due to save bugs, which have been fixed by now I think but I haven't returned to finish it. I did play more than 90% though, so I experienced most of the content and about half of the NPCs. The game is good, well worth a playthrough. I don't really see the resemblance to PST and I dislike all unnecessary talk about "spiritual successor of X". I prefer to judge a game on its own merits instead of comparing it too much to other, older games. And ToN stands in its own right.

Many encounters etc can be solved in several different ways, via fighting, via environmental actions or via talking etc. It's a refreshing RPG. The story is interesting enough to keep me interested all the way and NPCs are too. It's not a huge game though, the number of maps are fairly small but there's alot going on and plenty of things to do.

I recommend playing it. And tough it out a little bit, don't quite too soon after the start. It takes a little time to take off, so to speak, but it's worth it IMHO.

There's a thread in here where some of us discussed the game, some class comparions etc. Search for it if you want to read what other BG players thought of it.

Thanks Skatan, I won't check the thread because I'm weary of spoilers, but your post helps. :)

Yeah, that might be a good idea. Was a long time since I read that thread so dont remember but it prolly had plenty of spoilers.

Btw, just as an FYI, if you like battles much ToN offers little. The battles are interesting I think, but few and far between, most which can be skipped via dialogue. Just as a tip, because some ppl prefer the action and then ToN is perhaps not what they are after. But for me, I liked it. I wouldn't have mind some more battles, and sometimes when I solved a a battle without actual combat via talking, I reloaded and did the battle anyways just for some real action.

If you do play it and finish it, it would be interesting to read your thoughts about it afterwards. It's on my to-do list, to replay the game from scratch again but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Hey Skatan, I've been playing ToN for the past week or so and I've honestly been loving it. :) I think I've only had about 3 or 4 fights so far, but they're quite interesting. The world-building and the lore is absolutely amazing. I'll probably take a break now for a week or two and play something else with a little more action, so I don't get tired of ToN. It's a good game so far, tho it feels more like an interactive book than a game. Definitely superior to PST imo. I'm not much of a reviewer but I'll try to post my thoughts and opinions on the ToN thread once I actually finish the game.

Glad to hear it! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. I was a bit surprised by how little love the game and I'll always choose a shorter, more sincere review from a fellow forum member here than reading 1000 ranting reviews on metacritics or whatever every day of the week.

What character did you end up choosing and which primary NPCs did you end up with?

My main character is a Nano, and my team right now is Erritis, Rhin and Oom. I ran with Aligern for quite a while and I liked him, but these 3 felt more interesting. I can't stand Callistege, and Tybir felt uninteresting. I've met Matkina, but didn't travel with her so far and probably won't.
