      What's not to like about bears? When I lived on the west coast, there were bears roaming through the neighbourhood and only very rarely was there ever a problem with people. It was neat to look out the window and see a giant bear in your yard.

      They're pretty scary. They're extremely powerful and fast animals. I was young when I lived out west and still felt invincible. I used to walk right by bears without batting an eyelash. Now that I'm older and painfully aware of my mortality, I'd be terrified in the presence of a bear. But I admire and love them from afar.
