EE Keeper / changing character class kit

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
First time playing this game and I started with an Invoker, I want to change to the Conjurer. Seems like a very easy thing to do with EE keeper, open the program, go the characteristics and change the kit value.

Is that okay or do I need to do something more or different? I saw people suggesting "unleveling" to 0 and give the exp again or transfer the character into the multiplayer then transfer back. But not sure if all these things are needed because conjurer/invoker are the same class (mage).

Is there also something to be careful while editing the proficiencies?

    Changing your kit doesn't retroactively rewrite your character so you would need to manually edit your spellbook to delete anything a conjuror isn't supposed to cast. Other than that you should be fine, though.
