[Help] Dorn Quest?

hello! i'm trying to change som of my party members I wanted to try Dorn and i read that to get him there is an encounter with some bandits in the nashkel mines, I didnt get this encounter, I'm not sure if I'm missing the location or what could have happend ? :confounded:
Edit: I'm in chapter 3 already and I didnt talk to him in friendly arm inn before going to the mines

    Hi there.

    You first meet Dorn at the Friendly Arm Inn, there's a very short conversation you need to have with him (tab to find him, just in case). Once that's done you'll have an encounter when traveling to the Nashkel Mines area.
