8189 Development build - AVG false positive?

Out of the blue this morning, nwnmain.exe had disappeared. Attempting a repair with the Beamdog client resulted in this message:

Turns out that AVG has quarantined it as infected with IDP.Generic. This was fixed using the option "Restore and add exception" in the AVG Virus Chest.

There was an AVG application update pending, which apparently doesn't happen automatically. I've read that updating the software might clear the problem, but I'll never know because the file is now flagged as an exception.

    If in doubt you can get a good indication of the safety of a file by checking VirusTotal which gets results from a large number of virus checkers.
