8 fps with i3-8350K and GTX 1070 ti @ 1440p (max settings)

As per title. I maxed out the settings in the game's menu without tinkering on the driver side. Nothing too fancy there.

I noticed something was wrong, as the game felt far less than smooth, so I turned the fps count on. But 7.8 fps exceeded my wildest imaginations.

This seems rather unrealistic to me because I had a 50-ish fps count in Witcher 3 (sometimes 45, often 55 or even 60) with almost all ultra, even hairworks enabled at x4.

A much older GPU and CPU should be able to maintain 60 here.

What may have gone wrong?

All drivers are installed and up to date. This is a fresh Windows install.

Try turning off all the following video options:
    under Advanced Video Options:
    VSync,

then under Advanced Frame buffer effects:
    Ambient Occlusion,
    Depth of Field.

On my system (which is not as high-end as yours) that made a huge difference in FPS with everything else on max.

Thanks. I'm quite dismayed because ambient occlusion is as old as sin and DoF is nothing new either and here it looks like I need to turn down or disable more things in EE than perhaps something like a Core2Quad with GTX 470 would have had to back in Diamond Edition, which is quite sad.
