entering the planar sphere

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
is there a way to enter the planar sphere without valygar (or his corpse) in your group?

i ask because i want to play with six custom characters.

    I believe you can dismiss one of your characters and tell them to wait where they're standing, so you can get Valygar and unlock the planar sphere door, then get your party member back again. Valygar is not required inside the planar sphere, he's only needed to open the door.
