Characters randomly going berserk?? "morale failure"?

I don't know if this is something that is supposed to happen or some kind of bug, but my characters will randomly start running around and attacking each other after a fight. This time I was only hitting two guards inside a brothel, killed them both, and then half of my parts starts running around like maniacs. I try to dispel it and it has no effect.

update: it appears that I'm just new to some of the game's mechanics and somewhat inobservant, I forgot that I had equipped Edwin with the Rod of Terror which lowers Charisma permanently which contributed to morale failure and death. whoops.

    solved the problem by unequipping it and spawning in a couple Charisma books just to be safe, so Edwin at least has a few CHA points left now :-/
