Lightning Bolt affects caster. Spell apperance

I've been using Lightning bolt spell and noticed that my character gets stuck by the spell if enemy is in melee range. Is this a bug? Also, Why does the spell look like lighting coming from the sky. It's supposed to be shooting from the hand.

    No comments? Does no one else use this spell or not care? Are there mods for it's correction?

    Default Lighting Bolt script is a beam effect. If it's coming from the sky then it sounds like Call Lighting for Cleric/Druid casters and not for Wizard/Sorcerer.

    Certain D&D Rules setting, spells will hit friendly party members, even yourself if it's within the AOE of the spell range.

    Gedlee's Electric Loop stuns if you fail a Reflex and Will save, as an example.

    Thanks for the info. Seems the server I play on might have adjusted it.
