Change portrait of modded npc

Hello. I have got little problem . I cant change any mod npc portrait. I tried to replace thier portraits in override folder with portraits with same size ,names and inin BMP format, but all i get is big question mark in game. Anyone know what i do wrong ? Thanks

    Can you open the images and make sure that they are 24bit color?
    If you save them at the wrong color depth, the game won't recognize them.

    You were right. My pics were 32bit. Thanks.
