Playhouse mechanics

.....OK, we had the opening night performance, and, of course, as a Master Bard, I was superlative in my role. I had the opportunity to sell the playhouse for a paltry 10K in cash, but turned it down. So, I am gong to get a weekly income for some time. Apparently, I have to go back periodically to collect this income. But how does this work? What happens after Chapter 6? And does this carry over into ToB?
.....I have a suspicion that I cannot access the playhouse in ToB, but I can't confirm this, having never been a Bard in that scenario. Even in the short run, I will probably make more cash by not selling the Playhouse, but it would be nice to have access to it in ToB, if only for the sake of continuity.

    Honestly I usually loose track of money in ToB, you’ll have more than ever need. One recent game I finished with a surplus of 1m Gold.

    But yes, you will lose the revenue stream, and/or de’Arnise Keep in ToB.

    Well, that's a bit jarring from a continuity perspective They could at least explain what happened to the Playhouse, Planar Sphere and all the other strongholds. Did Balthazar, Abazagil or some other evil Bhaalspawn drop by with an army and raze it to the ground? Mind you, the MC is one of their strongest rivals, so it would make sense that they would want to weaken him/her by removing his/her seat of power. But really, how long would it take to code that into the game lore? "Your Athkatlan srtonghold is no more, destroyed by (insert name here), but the Fates have created another one for you in a seperate Plane of existence." Takes the Fate Spirit 5 seconds to say that, and pretty much ties everything together.

    Are you serious?? How the hell did you manage that? I just loaded an old saved game, and heading into the final confrontation with Melissan, I had a grand total of 44,500 cash.

    I always collect and sell all magic I don’t want, plus gems etc. it all adds up.

    Also, I expect the character continues their life after ToB. So all that stronghold income continues, when I return to Amn. Just because I don’t see it in the game doesn’t mean it isn’t there!

    Easy answer, the strongholds are in Amn, ToB events are happening in another region far south.

    Umm, that is true initially. Eventually, however, you DO return to Athkatla; Balthazaar's HQ is there, after all. You can also access Watcher's Keep in both SoA and ToB. But the Playhouse and all the other Strongholds are nowhere to be seen. Personally, I prefer my own inferred explanation; Balthazaar destroyed my stronghold in a fit of pique.

    You do not return to Athkatla, Balthazar is in Amkethron. Very different place, even in a different nation.

    Watcher’s Keep is the only place of overlap between the two. In a meta sense, it is quite reasonable to think you can return to Athkatla and collect your passed due earnings. But that would come *after* ToB has ended.

    Ah; it's been a while since I played ToB. I misremembered the spelling of the town; thought it was Athkatla. I mean, they do both begin with the letter A. Sheesh! ::faceplams::

    OK! I got my first cash flow from the Playhouse; 1300 simoleons! Not bad. That's 5200 a month. Yeah, I know; that's chump chamge compared to what I can get selling pilfered loot, but it all adds up in the end. Espceially if I do every possible side-quest before heading off to the end game ... Chapter 7 is it? ... thereby maximizing my return on the investment. 52,000 after 10 months, 104,000 after 20. I can buy a couple of decent gear items with that cash flow.

    OMG! I just realized something. When we finally go off to Spellhold, this begins Chapter 4. We are are going to be away until Chapter 6. When we get back, I am going to find a HUGE amount of cash waiting for me. Like, maybe 50,000-100,000 or so.
    Well, I am assuming that time doesn't stand still for Akathla while we are away. I do hope that's correct. We don't sail off into the Twilight Zone ::does a Rod Serling impression:: into "another dmension of time and space" ... right?
