Missing familiar

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I had my familiar out of my backpack. I tried to move between areas and couldn't because my familiar wasn't nearby. I tried to recall it to me and put it in my backpack. I moved to a new area without picking it up and it didn't move with me. Now I can't move between areas or rest because my party is scattered. Any suggestions on avoiding a softlock?

    The easiest solution might be teleporting using CTRL J (with cheats enabled, obviously). I think your familiar should appear next to your protagonist when that protagonist is moved in this manner.
    If that does not work, it should be possible to edit your savegame to move your familiar in to the same area as yourself. If you are unfamiliar with NearInfinity, you could upload your save here and ask the forum to help.
