Weapon Advice Needed

I have an Elven Swashbuckler. 3 skilll points in two weapon combat, one each in short sword and longsword. I am debating putting a point in Katanas since I also own Celestial Fury. However my main hand THACO will drop since I lose the Elven Longsword bonus. My current THACOS are 2 and 4.. If I switch, they will be 4 amd 4. Are the benefits of Celestial Fury worth the loss of 2 THACO points?

    I experimented, and wielding Celestial Fury my THACO actually drops by 3. A THACO of 6 isn't going to hit much of anything, so I suspect I'll forget about that for now. Unless someone comes up with a good reason why the Katana is better. Booming Thunder sounds nice, but you have to actually hit the target to trigger it. The lightning is decent but only functions once a day.

    You should only lose 1 thAC0 point. The stunning effect make Celestial Fury one of the best weapons available.

    I tried investing a point in katana skill. My Thaco was an abyssmal 6.

    Perhaps go one more point in longsword at level 16 and add the katana at levels 20 (and possibly 24).

    With 1 pip in shortsword, you already have a good offhand if you can get Kundane.

    Oh, that's exact;y what I decided to do. I already have the Sword of Mask (+4) for my offhand. Getting Katana skill will have to wait a bit. A long term project that won't be done until ToB probably. THACOs are now 2 and 4. I keep forgetting thet my prinary function is scouting, traps and locks, and combat is purely secondary. Also, I will get that second pip in short sword before doing anything with Katanas. Lastly, I don't have Kundane; I havn't gone to the Planar Prison yet.
