Enhanced Edition's Portrait sizes?

I know this has been asked before but I don't know if any definitive answer was given.

I just want to know what the sizes for the portraits will be now in the enhanced edition.

I do alot of custom portrait work and I would like to know if I need to rework then now. Also if so it would serve to kill some more time before release. Thanks in advance.

Hopefully they won't change anything. So many portraits are out there it'd be a pain to make new ones,.

With the game's increased resolution, I would expect the portrait sizes to be just a bit bigger. You don't want your portraits to be tiny and/or blurry, do you?

Its pretty obvious that they would need to up the resolution somehow. Just trying to figure out how that will be done. I heard that they may be using the extra large original size. Which were 210x330 i think or something like that. Might make sense but just looking for some confirmation.

I mean photoshop can upsize an old one with minimal loss if need be but If I got to start making new ones then I'd like to know asap.

Yes, I definitely would like to know that too. Also, what about color depth? Currently 24 bit is the limit, and even that sometimes doesn't work (from a recent entry in another thread:

I cropped and resized the portrait, as you suggest. I named it properly and saved it as a 24-bit bitmap too. However, still the game only recognizes the file and puts a question mark picture on it. Funny thing came when I made a small pic (38x60) out of the very same 110x170. The game recognizes the small one, but not the large one.

As a crazy alternate portrait manufacturer, I'd appreciate any info regarding this issue.

Yes, it would be good to know the portrait size for BGEE, so that we can start preparing portraits for our CHARNAMEs!

Unfortunately I only have bigger than 170x110 images for some of the images I'd like to use in BGEE., though do at least have a large-ish one for the dark elf avatar image I'm using here, that I was thinking of using for a fighter/mage in BGEE.

@Syntia13 just wanted to say I finally got the game to recognize it. I ended up pasting the image in power point as a device independent bitmap and re-saving it as a bmp file... I hope they optimize the process to import a pic in BG:EE, as currently there's plenty of ways to do it wrong by accident. I struggled over your wonderful Xan portrait for a couple of hours, and I already knew some of the "workarounds" :)

kinda difficult to do with the source portraits of such a small size. There is only soo much they can do to them to make them bigger before having to redesign them. I started giving some portraits a basic upsizing in photoshop and they are not coming out so bad. Worse comes to worse ill do that.

Man, I beat BG soo many times I remember all plots by heart so its not like new story is whats driving my anticipation its basically all the behind the scenes stuff. I want to know portrait specs, customisation options, mod compatability and multiplayer details.

I've seen larger versions of many of the original portaits on other websites, so think they do exist

I recently had a little fun with creating custom portraits from porn actors, I shan't be sharing those on the internet though :p

Size for the portraits are: Large (not really needed): 210x330px Medium Size: 169X266px and Small: 54X84px. They must be in .bmp format.

Is there a way to obtain the original character portraits in the game that are unmodified and of the larger size? I'd like to take a stab at editing some of the default portraits but want to ensure that they haven't been altered or changed in dimensions.

If you use NearInfinity, you can export the portraits and edit them with any image editor.
