Now where to find portraits...?

I thought I was prepared. I had a huge pack of portraits that were mostly congruent with the artstyle of the portraits that came with the game. But it turns out BG:EE uses different dimensions than BG1&2 did! Now where do I find a nice selection of custom portraits? I have no idea where one looks for this sort of thing. I really don't like the new portraits added, they look like IWD portraits and don't fit in with the others at all.

I'm not asking how to use custom portraits. I'm wondering where to find any that fit the new dimensions.

What I would do is do some web-searching and find some pictures you like, and then use an image-editing program (I use Paint.net because it's free) to crop them to what you need.

There's a thread at the top of this forum with instructions on how to format them, but here they are again (straight from the Volo's mouth):

To import a custom portrait, create a directory called "portraits" in the directory where your local game files are stored (under Documents\Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition), and add any custom portraits to that directory.

The dimensions and naming format required for player portraits are:
- XXXXXXXS.bmp (54x84, 200 dpi)
- XXXXXXXM.bmp (169x266, 200 dpi)
- XXXXXXXL.bmp (210x330, 200 dpi)

You can also put the custom portraits directly into the Override folder (although if you plan on using a lot of mods, this way is a better means of keeping track of them).

I have no idea where to find images in a similar style as BG's portraits, though.

@VegardPompey Try a google image search. 'male dwarf monk' has 145000 results. I'm sure you can find something you like.

Note that these files were sized to the specs of OLD BG custom portraits and will have to be adjusted...

I'm not sure exactly but I think it was this one: http://www.moddb.com/games/baldurs-gate-ii/addons/ultimate-portrait-pack-baldurs-gate-i-ii Apparently many of these are from NWN, I wonder if the originals are available in larger sizes.

That's the problem, though. I'd have to upscale them to make them useable. The quality won't be very good.

The new medium size for portraits is not that much larger... one could just scale up the old portraits without losing too much quality.

Anybody know how to replace an npc's portrait with another? Such as swapping out Imoen's for a revised Imoen pic?

Well, I figured out a trick. Searching for portraits people have made with NWN in mind rather than BG results in larger portraits that can easily be resized to fit BG:EE's dimensions.

(Now if only they didn't have to be .bmp's... What is this, 1998?!)
