Crash when selecting invalid portrait file

Current behaviour:
Selecting an invalid portrait file (e.g. "thumbs.db") crashes the game.

Expected behaviour:
Only .bmp images are listed. Selecting a file that isn't an image should not crash the game.

    This was fixed somewhat. Now the game isn't crashed and the portrait is the default looking like a '?'
