Lightning and Journal UI

Looking at epic screenshots from 1997 Baldur's Gate, I remembered there was a way to enable lightning in Baldur's Gate. Is this true? I suggest this be made a feature in BG:EE because it is fantastic.

The old journal UI looks good too. I like it better even.

Ambient weather effects do exist in BG, yes. Cosmetic lighting would sometimes strike during storms.

The lightning does look better, and it looks like the animation is randomly generated by the engine. With varying resolutions I feel this is a better solution than playing the same truncated .bam each time.

The lightning does look better, but I disagree about the journal though.

Since BGEE is based on the BG2/ToB engine, the BG2 journal is the base that we can expect, and that is certainly better than the BG1 journal and the one we can see in that screenshot, since it had more functions.
