    Isn't it just a single minotaur adventurer, whose whole group has been slain by the myconids? At least that's what I remember, him cursing the mushroom people and going crazy with rage and/or their confusion spells.

    I think there was supposed to be more down there, but it got cut due to time or budget constraints.

    As Zutti says, it was part of a larger subquest that got cut, just like the guarded compound in the temple district.
