The Enhanced Edition adds another way to resolve this quest: If you've killed the priestesses at the Water Queen's House, you can now tell Lothander the bad news.
Charname: We had an earlier... encounter... in the temple of Umberlee. It may prove impossible to reverse the geas.
Lothander: What?! How could you! But... maybe... I am dead...
Lothander: ...and so fate catches up. Here, take my half of the antidote. Marek has the other. You'll find him at the Blushing Mermaid inn. I must go. I need to see her... need to say goodbye...
(Lothander leaves.)
Journal entry: Marek and Lothander Even though we couldn't help Lothander, he gave me half the antidote and sent me to the Blushing Mermaid inn to collect the other half from Marek.

That poor guy died the moment he put those boots on himself.

why not pickpocket him instead?
It is sadly not possible to pickpocket those boots.
you can kill the priestess and still do all of the quests related to her. She drops everything you need. I killed her for no reason last time when I first got to BG.
Oh goodie, I was worried I would have to start all over.
Or just finish the game. You can do it in time.
This seems like a bit if a plot break. You are supposed to win the game and continue your adventures, not waste away into a needless death once the rest of the countryside is safe. That is anti-climactic.
(ps, i am talking game flow and conceptually, not mechanics)
Oh god I hope not. I am pretty sure I killed the priestess of Umberlee ;_;
Well I certainly hope not! Poor priestess, what did she do to deserve such treatment...
In my defense, when I killed her, she tested positive for evil. Coincidentally so did those hunters in the woods that were found dead. Also those fishermen who killed that priestess.
Detect Evil. For all your secretly a sadistic serial killer posing as a holy warrior needs.
I went to the temple, did the quest, got the pergament to reverse the geas. After that I pickpocketed the manual of wisdom and used it on Xzar. I went to see lothander and when he asked if I had the solution my only response alternative was; No, not yet. And the scroll with the geas removal was gone. I have no idea what happened......could something have happened when I pp'd the manual? Should probably have killed her instead =/. Well I guess I'm off to see Sarevok before 10 days pass

Or hait a minute... Never mind.

The Mark: "What, where!"
