While Imoen no doubt appreciates your feelings, she has only sisterly affection. Anyway, bs works only with thief weapons. Use staff of striking maybe? F/T is hilarious though. I killed sarevok that way easy.

Specialisation is the key, that +2 extra damage gets multiplied by the backstab too. Also, those giant strength potions are very useful, extra damage from str is not multiplied, but still added, and they give hefty to hit bonuses too.

I've finished a play with a shadowdancer, while he used to miss a lot of attacks at early levels, once he got those gloves that give +2 damage, and the cursed belt that sets STR to 19, he was pretty brutal. Hide in plain sight is so powerful you can stab them in the head till they are all dead. Mwahaha!

I had a dulled F>T with Grandmastery in Quarterstaffs, 19 Strength, 4x backstab, and Aule's Staff +3 equipped. I backstabbed Aec'Letec for 150 damage. Fun times. I could have used the Staff of Striking for even higher.

f/t's are totes amez-balls, definitely pick up the staff of striking when you can, the backstabs are brutal

i took my f/t through to bg2 and some of my backstabs were just ridiculous, especially when you crit with them, 244 was one of the highest i noticed

Quarterstaff is statistically the best backstab weapon in the game, I believe. (However, I never thought of using it for years). In BG1 you get Aule's Staff and the Staff of Striking (for special occasions), and in ToB you get the almighty Staff of the Ram, which is ridiculous.

Well uhm... F/T is one of the, if not the most powerful class in the game and repeatedly backstabbing is consensually the cheesiest tactic out there, especially with boots of speed. If you want a hint; try to get a hold on as many invisibility potions as you can ;)

Backstabbing with two-handed swords or halberds is not possible, since they are normally not useable by thiefs. For powergaming you might indeed want to try quarterstaffs, they are the strongest backstabbing weapons in the game and there is a +3 in Ulgoth's Beard that you can get early on.

Why make a F/T with 14 STR by the way?
