Disciple's Breath Greyed Out?

So I just started out as a Dragon Disciple keen to try out the Breath Weapon (partly inspired by my own chronic halitosis I guess), but the 'Special Ability/F12' button is permanently greyed out. Tried everything I can think of (admittedly that's not very much) such as re-load, resting for 24 hours, changing kit etc. (in case something was incompatible) but no luck.

All donations to the Church of Infinite Ignorance will be most graciously received.

    You gain the Breath Weapon at level 3.
