Well, you could always imagine that Minsc is not a person per se but a well made, brainless clockwork golem. That empty head of his would then be piloted by a lone, schizophrenic, miniature space hamster astronaut outlaw with a irresistible weakness for witches. Completely lore friendly, I assure you!
I loved the minsc ending in which; legends says Boo is among the stars somewhere.
ANyone played Mass Effect ? I don't remember if its Mass Effect 2 or 3, but you can get a space hamster who squeaks like boo Bioware = developers from Baldur's Gate. Can't be a coincidence.

You can buy it in Mass Effect 2 (and if bought found scurrying around in Mass Effect 3) and no its not a coincidence.
I always figured that Boo was the equivalent of Orlandu from Final Fantasy Tactics and Bioware didn't want their game broken that early. Therefore they gave us Minsc to channel Boo's power, thus we may not have him directly and cannot go around one shotting everything in game.
