No shadows no rings

I have BGEE on my laptop and when I installed it none of the unexplored areas were blacked out and none of the out of sight areas were shadowed. Also, neither the pc nor the npcs have the ring around them. Has this occurred to anyone else and how does one fix the issue?

    that "ring" around them is a feedback circle, go into options and feed the "feedback" slider ( I think its the locator feedback slider, if I recall correctly there are 2 of them) and crank it to max, that will put the circle back under your characters, as for the fog of war and such, no idea, sounds bugged up to me
