All engine improvements, tweaks and fixes present in BG:EE are being carried over. Having a look at various tweets it looks like there are a number of new fixes in addition to most of/all the BG2 fixpack stuff being incorporated.
As for items, if BG:EE is anything to go by there will be quite a few. But they won't tell us what they are or how to get them. That's up to us.
Expect a new thread starting on about the 15th with startled discoveries of new shinies, eventually tabulated into a clear and comprehensive guide.

It's 2nd edition D&D tradition that rangers can only be of good alignment (which they changed in 3rd edition) and elves can't be druids so it is rules accurate, but you can always change your alignment using an editor such as Shadow Keeper and you can create a druid in game and change your race to elf with the same tool.

Dont you know anything? Jews can't be pirates and elves cant be druids... Thats just common sense.
