How to import my gear to BG II EE

Hi,
I'd like to import my gear along with my char. When I import, I can't pause game and Irenicus is coming and all goes down the normal way. Can you help me preserving my gear?

    Start a multiplayer game instead, create a save after the intro, load it and delete the character used and import the one with gear.
