After exhausting a stack of ranged ammo, character swaps to melee

Characters should swap to a different stack of ranged ammo after using up the current stack (if applicable). Characters should not swap to melee if there is another stack of ammo equipped.

If you have different types of ammo then this is not a bug, as the game wants to prevent you from accidentally using rare ammo that you might not want to fire.

The game should prioritize not walking my ranged characters into melee for any reason, unless I order them to do so.

There are 3 slots for ammo for a reason Alkalurops. If I don't want to use a rare ammo type, I won't equip it.

    This is a bug.

It will be addressed in the next patch.

Really? I believe I read somewhere that it was a feature for BG:EE 1.2 patch. Maybe I missed a joke.

The feature was recalled as it caused erratic behavior from ranged enemies.

Good news. I understand why the feature was implemented, but I definitely prefer it not to work that way -- thanks for the update.

Well that is upsetting. I quite liked this feature.

You can get the same functionality by going to the Options -> Gameplay -> Auto Pause menu and ticking the Weapon Unusable box.

The game will now be paused every time your character depletes an ammo stack.

But now I will always accidentally fire my Arrows of Explosions willy nilly!

He just told you how to avoid that problem...

Thanks for the fix. I've encountered this as a problem as well. Since BG1 original, I've just placed the ammo in the slots in the reverse order I want my guy to use them once one quiver runs out, and it works.

Is this likely to reimplemented later once the AI problem is resolved or is it just being dropped?
