Mustard Jellies, Magma Mephits, and You

Greetings, all!

I'm using Sword Coast Stratagems 28. I was in Chateau Irenicus, facing the Mephit Room. I used Polymorph Self to become a Mustard Jelly. I assumed I'd be fully magic immune, but the magma balls from the Magma Mephits still damaged me.

Considering that in BG1, spell resistance negated energy damage (like from Arrows of Flame), why did I get hurt?
