Arachnophobic NPCs

I was wondering why there are so many NPCs that are afraid of spiders. Is this just a coincidence or some kind of inside joke in the modding community ?

Some examples:

Angelo (talking about spiders): Legs. Legs, chief. I can't deal with it. There's only so many legs an honest creature should have.

Dace : I hate spiders. No, no, I really hate ‘em, darlin'. Helluva lot. They're probably the only thing I can think of that really gives me the screamin' meemies, you know?

And don't even get me started on Gavin, not only he has several dialogues in which he explains how much he hates spiders, but he also has a ring that cannot be removed and that gives him a penalty to thac0 against spiders (-6 IIRC), making him almost worthless against them :D

Does someone have other examples of arachnophobic NPCs ?

    Given that so many real-world humans are afraid of spiders, it could simply be a reflection of that, or even of the writers' own fear. It's been hypothesized for instance that JRR Tolkien suffered from arachnophobia due to his tendency to use spiders as villains.
