My major concern with BG1 is the many small FedEx quests, whereas BG2 has several major ones, which, I think, is much preferable. On the other hand, the urgency of your mission (roleplaying vice) in BG2 makes you miss most of them.
Interesting reading this thread. Many posts have several good points, thank you. Both games have pros and cons compared to each other, hopefully modders can be inspired to come up with something that takes the best of one game and add it to the other.
