Can't use HLA for mage or cleric

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
This may be a totally newbie question but my mage and my cleric have gained their high level abilities (mage was comet and cleric was summon Deva) however I can't find where I select this option in battle. When I go through their spell list it just stops at level 9 and level 7 spells respectively, and when I click on the "use ability" button (looks like a + on the far right bottom of the screen, for example where I select Whirlwind attack for my fighter) there is nothing there. I have rested and such, what am I missing? Thanks for the help

    Summon Deva will be under your 7th level cleric spells. Comet will be under your 9th level mage spells.

    Strictly speaking they should not be level7/9 spells... so looking for them there is hardly intuitive.
