Last minute party question! Is Druid tank viable?

I've heard the beetle and water elemental forms are very powerful for tanking. A few questions:

1) Does this work as a main tank for a party?
2) Is staying in beetle and water elemental form 100% of the time a viable strategy?
3) How would you build this tank, as a pure Druid, Fighter/Druid multi, or Dual Fighter (?) / Druid

Thanks for the last minute help!

    Duals are really strong even without shapeshifts as soon as they get ironskins :)

    Does a kensai druid retain its kit bonuses when shapeshifted?
