Exporting characters from Icewind dale to BG2?

Is this possible? May be a fools hope, but i think it would be quite nice if it were able.

    This should actually be possible. Did you fiddle around a bit with things?

    I guess worst case you could just rebuild them manually in IWD, shouldn't be too hard.

    No, i haven't tried anything yet. But i'll try just with the standard export and see... CHAR file transfer...Perhaps it will work..

    Btw, last i remember i could not transfer items to BGII from BG1..Is it still restricted?

    IWD has many, many unique spells and items that just are not existent in BG2. Not to mention two new priest kits exclusive to IWD (for now) I can say these will cause a lot of problems if you try to import them. I haven't tried, though. An uneducated guess I admit, but I fear they will not be compatible.

    The spell should just show up as an error entry because it is not in bg2 and be useless. The same for the items.

    Asking as a non-expert in the technical issues involved, but would the reverse be doable, as well?

    Probably with the same problems. You should probably wait until the BG:EEs are updated to IWD:EE engine and mods that implement spells might help but only if they assign them the same ID.

    Has this happened yet, I barely started IWD, but loving most of my party!
