Do I need to buy again for Steam?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I had pre-ordered the game time ago for Windows - now I'm using Steam, and since the game is ported to Linux I'd like to have it there.

Can it be done somehow without buying the game again?

    BGEE and BG2EE must be purchased separately for each OS, (Win, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS), while I believe IWDEE is available as a single purchase for Mac, Windows, and Linux, (iOS and Android are still each separate purchases).
    I don't think Steam circumvents this, so you'll need to buy again.

    I believe @jackjack is wrong. If you contact support@beamdog.com they should be able to switch your ownership to a steam copy.

    Sorry, I misunderstood the OP. They will switch it for you, but your Windows copy will no longer work. Apologies!

    Well - I ended up buying the game again. Not a big deal but this kind of info should be better advertised I think.
