Baldur's gate enhanced edition has stopped working

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
i get a error message saying that and i cant access my game, i add the debug cheat thing and thats when it stopped working, i tried removing it but it still didnt work. i tried deleting the code and looking up a default code for it and copy and pasting it guess what? STILL DIDNT WORK, i tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it using steam ((thats where i got it)) but yet again, yep you know it STILL DIDNT WORK. what am i doing wrong

    Delete baldur.ini file you toyed with, and try again. It seems you have corrupted it while trying to enter cheat code line.

    tried that but sitll wouldnt work :/

    Reinstall the whole thing and make a backup of the .ini before tinkering.

    Try going into your documents folder and deleting anything in there relating to Baldur's Gate.

    Your saved games are probably in there too so back them up if you want to keep them.
