"Q: Can I import a Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition or Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition character?
A: No, you'll need to create a new character for your game in Icewind Dale. We have provided a collection of six custom-built pre-generated characters for your party to start, which you can either use or replace with your own creations."
I keep seeing this in a few places, but I did it, just copied the char files across from my BGEE character folder. Works fine. I do not have BG2EE though so i can't speak for that. I copied my entire Black Pits party across to Icewind, and also my cavalier protagonist from the main story in BGEE, I haven't checked if she has her Bhaalspawn powers, but the character is in the list when I got to the creation screen in Icewind.
You can also import your BGEE characters (Xan, Imoen, ect) into the Black pits by creating a .CHR file and placing it into your override folder located in the documents folder. The easiest way that I have found to do this is to use the EE Keeper. Once you have recruited your favorite party members, go to EE Keeper, open your save file, & check the box that says that the character is exportable. Don't forget to save the changes in EE keeper. Once that is done, go back into your new modified saved game & export all NPC's.
