Removing petrification from NPCs

So I just completed the basilisk area. (Thank you Xan for having a protection spell against petrification) And now I am in Gullykin and see I can buy some stone to flesh scrolls.

My question is this, can I use them on the petrified npcs that I saw in the basilisk area? And if I can, are there any rewards for doing so? Dont want to buy them if I cant use them and/or no reward anyway

    Only one in the middle called Tamah. Keep going till you find one with a circle underneath.

    There isn't much of a reward, though. You can get a point of reputation out of it, depending on your dialog, but I think that's it.
