Does import char (multiplayer) work correctly?

Hello and sorry for putting the thread here, I don't have an idea where else to put it though.
I intend to create a custom party in BG1EE (no level1NPC mod that is EE compatible yet
) and would like to import it in BG2EE.
Does it work fine in the enhanced editions?
I'm asking since I was using BGT up to this point where stuff such us "importing" was not necessary at all.
I'd like to keep stuff like Book bonuses on custom chars (other than my main), so that's quite important to me.
