Dual class question.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can find no definitive answer as to whether this still works in the EE version of the game. My question, if I dual a fighter at level 2 or 3, can I still attain grand mastery in my chosen weapon proficiency?
I know I could in the old games and I haven't run a low level dual class CHARNAME in a long long time.

    You may grandmaster in all eligible weapon proficiencies but you should consider lvl 7 (+half attack ) lvl 9 (weapon points, saving throws, max hp) or lvl 13 (+half attack) for dualing

    Yeah I know it's best to do it at those levels, but I really don't feel like having a gimp'd CHARNAME for that long during BG2. Also I don't wanna play a fighter for all of BG1.
