mage abilities

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I am new to BG2 and am playing the enhanced version on mobile. I have Nalia in my group and am not able to use the mage abilities.
I went through the mage book set the spells I wanted to use in combat but they are greyed out in the spells tab. Priest skills for other characters work fine though. Can someone please tell me if I am missing something or if this is a common problem on android. I am using a galaxy note 4.

    Is she wearing armor?

    Mages cannot wear armor as it disables spell casting. Also, has your party rested? Resting resets spellbooks.

    It was the armour. Ty guys. I should have picked up on that. Feel like an idiot now lol
