Bug or not?

in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear
I defeated Herphaan after taking the elevator up, but the big door and the crate is locked so my only way to continue is to go back. Is this how it is supposed to be ?

    I managed to sneak past the door by using the teleport field cast by Hephernaan. When everyone was teleported past I tried to go upstairs and the game didn't let me. The gate didn't open from the other side either so I was stuck inside the castle. :smile:

    Try this
    Search for Skie outside the city walls of Dragonspear Castle. Yes, she stormed the front wall. Presumably sneaking but still... she did.

    I have no idea what was the point of entering the basement of the castle. I thought it contained a detonator or something (judging from the talk with the guys around the kettle). I was wrong though. I guess this whole area–the underground river–is entirely optional.
