From what I know, your gold is lost by your treasurer but there is a quest to find it again.
As for items yes, but as soon as you complete the first dungeon, your party disbands and they take all equipped items with them. All inventory items on your party will be placed in a chest in the palace
That means i will get the exact amount of gold i had before i finish bg EE..when i do that "quest"? or some random amount?.... so it will be best to take all items from them just before they disband to save most of them?
Can anyone explain to me the difference between importing a character vs importing a save game?
The save game will include which companions you were last with, along with their items? Is that all? What if tomes were used on companions, etc... does that carry over?
It's been so long I can't remember if there's a final save after finishing the game, or you use your last save before fighting Sarevok?

The game creates a special save after the final battle. As for any tome modifications I imagine they carry over to SOD, though this would need confirmation AND is still a waste of a tome since nothing carries over to BG2. Besides Safana, I cannot figure out where are you spending that tome.
