annoying whistling sound during combat

Currently playing through BGEE for the first time. I have played through vanilla BG1 and 2 twice upon release way back in the day. This time, I plan on playing all the way through BGEE, SoD, and BG2EE, while trying to keep a good aligned party and using as many BG1 NPCs as I can in SoD and BG2EE.
Anyway, on to the topic of this thread. Why do I often hear a whistling sound when combat begins? It sounds like someone trying to whistle to a dog to come to them. I remember hearing this in vanilla BG1 back in the day also, but don't really recall it in BG2. Is there a way to turn that off? I'm guessing it might be Minsc automatically using his charm animal Ranger ability, but I also hear it when I'm just fighting human guards, etc.
