Additional player made party members

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
So, i used the Creat Party feature to make a shaman to play along side my protaganist. However, i wanna try out other party members to see how they fit, but removing the shaman from the party makes her leave and dissapear. Do these npcs go anywhere in particular or do they simply dissapear from the game?

    If you kick them, they're gone. I believe there are two ways to circumvent it:

    1. Do the 'split the pair' trick - kick the target out and leave the area (this might not work)
    2. Install Tweaks Anthology, which has a component to improve the dialog
