Don't panic, @Voiceofreason. It's central to Beamdog's marketing strategy that they're bringing these Infinity Engine games to mobile platforms, as they have already done with their previous products. (I don't know exactly what proportion of their sales come from the versions for mobile devices, but it's surely quite significant.)

If Beamdog gave up on mobiles now, their core strategy would be wrecked and they'd lose their commercial credibility, so their investors would probably lose confidence and pull the plug. Thus it's life-and-death for the company to complete the port of EEv2+ and SoD to Android and iOS.

It has turned out to be more difficult than they expected, so there's a frustrating delay, but they daren't fail to get it done eventually, because their future existence depends upon it.

In the meanwhile, however, most of a dev team are usually irrelevant to a porting project, since their parts of the work are complete once the game is finished on its original platform. It makes sense that designers/writers/artists/etc move on to their next project while the coders are still working on the problems of porting the finished product to other platforms.

Yes, this seems to be the case, we just need to be patient: https://www.beamdog.com/jobs/7

In the meantime, if you like strategy games, then you should definitely have a look at Rome: Total War! It has just landed on the App Store and it is pretty cool!
