Lower Resistance + Eliminster

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
Can one lower Eliminster's MR in order to make him stunnable? I'm trying to determine if my current party can even kill him. It seems like a thief with a x4 backstab is really the only way? Wondering if I should wait till our BG encounter and see if I fare better.

    first of all, the only way to get lower resistance in bg1 is to be a level 10 sorcerer, so I don't know how you are going to pull that off without cheating

    but as far as I can tell, if you lower his magic resistance I don't see why you couldn't stun him if he fails his save
