BG EE no longer launches

Hello, haven't played this for a very long time. Decided to play again and downloaded a huge 3.1GB update when I launched the game. The game will now no longer start. I open the BG launcher, it then checks for updates, tells me it is up to date, I launch the game and it immediately quits. Game used to run fine before the update.

Are there any settings I should be changing?

    You could try installing the Beamdog Client (here) and see if it is possible to launch the game from there.
