Rolling Back Narlen

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
I just realized that Narlen gives a quest to thieves. Unfortunately, when I first talked to him, I couldn't understand him and he walked away. I tried spawning him, but he won't talk. Is there a quest flag I can undo to set him back to step zero?
